When I was 16, either for my birthday or Christmas, my Dad gave me three best of cds from Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Sarah Vaughn. It was a perfect gift. Thank you, Dad. I used to always listen to the Ella one when I got ready for school dances. I still listen to it when I'm getting fancy for something - it puts me in the right upbeat mood - it gets me singing and dancing. Today, this particular song feels relevant to me.
In an unrelated note, I read about two books today that I would like to own, once they are officially published. Well the first one came out today, so I should get on that. The first being Just My Type by Simon Garfield. Given one of my recent posts, I don't need to explain why, do I? (Thanks NPR for the tip!) The second book is The American Cocktail by the Editors of Imbibe Magazine. I have fallen hard for the vintage cocktail fad. I feel like somewhere, my grandparents are happy with this. (Thanks The Kitchn!)
